I'm working on a PhD in

I'm working on a PhD in Electrical Engineering at NC State University. My area of research is in underwater freespace optical communication (so, a combination of optics and communication theory). That's what my MS was in too. But, now I need to pick a narrow area of research in that field and I haven't quite settled on it. It's a relatively unexplored area, so there's lots of work to be done - which is good and bad. Easy to publish, but a ton of foundation work that needs to be done.

:S ...hard to say, not

:S ...hard to say, not exactly the path I've walked trough, the only thing I felt alike is the issue of working in brand new areas, my dissertation is looking for a behavioral approach in rescue robotics, concerning small teams and swarms. So, a lot of swarm intelligence, a lot of cooperative and behavioral robotics, but nothing precisely deep in-between. Nevertheless, I haven't published anything formal, trying to take MSRS into the fight =P...

Don't know if ever used, but for me this has worked http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/web/courses/courses/index.htm...maybe you can find something useful there.

hehehe don't try it too hard,

hehehe don't try it too hard, cuz' your brains will warm up !

Luck for you too !

Where are you working in your PhD ?... maybe I can be useful in order for you to not walk trough same bad paths and go straight in an 'enhanced' way...I've read a lot, tried a lot, and finally proposed (objectively) a little...

Good luck! I'm working on my

Good luck! I'm working on my PhD also, but I haven't yet picked a topic - but I need to soon. I have a general area of research, but not the specific. Maybe I should spend less time on this website and more time on research ;)
