R1
Category:
Rolling
Cost: $239.00
R1 is a three layer mobile robot that's perfect for hobbyists, educators, researchers, or professionals who:
- Wish to focus mostly on software development
- Don't have time, tools, or facilities to build a cool robotic platform from scratch
- Want to use a robot as a teaching aid in the classroom
- Wish to develop new robotics systems like communication, vision & voice recognition, artificial intelligence, navigation, mapping, mobile security, and more.
R1 Assembly:
You only need a phillips head screwdriver and an allen wrench for assembly! You can put R1 together in about 20 mins. View entire Assembly instructions here.
Components:
Components and Parts:
- Three R1 Platters
- Four R1 Platter Spacers
- Four R1 Nameplates
- Two R1 Motor Mounts
- Two high torque FUTABA servo motors (265 oz-in total)
- Two 3.5" diameter rubber rear drive wheels
- Two 2" diameter rubber front wheels
- Two zinc plated casters, caster mounts, and collars. Hex wrench included
- Two Hamamatsu P5587 photoreflector wheel encoder circuits, wiring, and four 3 pin 0.100" headers and pins(12) to interface the encoders to your microcontroller (see picture).
- Two encoder disks
- Two separate six cell AA battery holders. One for your microcontroller power and one for motor and sensor power. Each battery holder provides 9v of power, and mount underneath the front of the bottom platter, freeing up space while keeping the center of gravity low and in the center of the robot. (Rechargeable batteries required and are NOT included).
- All the STAINLESS STEEL hardware needed
- Downloadable Assembly Manual (also on our Documents and Downloads Page)
- NOTE: The R1 Basic kit doesn't include any infrared sensors (other than the wheel encoder sensors) or oopic controller, although pictured this way on the left. If you you're wanting an R1 Kit with an OOPic controller and/or sensors, checkout our other kit combinations here.
